Previously we brought you spy shots of a new battery-electric variant called an i7. The latest prototypes are for variants equipped with internal-combustion engines, và one of them is a plug-in hybrid.

The prototypes are heavily camouflaged, especially their finer details lượt thích the lights, grille and C-pillars. Interestingly, we can see that the headlights feature a split design, a look that was previewed on the recent BMW Concept XM, whose production version is also due out this year. We can also spot the thiết kế of the production-spec wheels and tailpipes in some of the shots.

In some of the shots you"ll also notice a rearward facing camera mounted lớn each of the front fenders, và there are more cameras và sensors visible in the front grille. These are likely to tư vấn planned driver-assist features, as well as a self-driving system rated at màn chơi 3 on the SAE scale for autonomous vehicles.

Level 3 means a car that can handle itself in set conditions, enabling the driver to lớn let go of the steering wheel và even look away from the road briefly. However, it still requires the driver to be ready to lớn take back control at a moment"s notice.

You"ll also notice that the vị trí cao nhất of the grille has been completely masked off & actually sits higher than the headlights, lượt thích on the current 7-Series. The big grille motif is a popular one in the all-important Chinese market.

Underpinning the redesigned 7-Series is an updated version of the current generation"s CLAR platform designed to support multiple powertrain types, including battery-electric powertrains as we"ll see in the i7 (the platform also underpins the new i4). Another key change is the addition of all-wheel steering, which the rival Mercedes-Benz S-Class introduced for its 2021 redesign.

Some size of electrification should feature on every model in the lineup, meaning we"re likely lớn see mild-hybrids offered in addition lớn plug-in hybrid và battery-electric powertrains. A V-8 in mild-hybrid configuration is a sure bet but a V-12 will no longer be around. BMW will bid farewell lớn the V-12 with a special version of the current 7-Series due out soon.

There should be new concepts for the interior of the redesigned 7-Series. The interior of the 2022 BMW iX battery-electric SUV may hint at some of the elements we can expect, like floating screens for the digital instrument cluster & infotainment hub. Stay tuned.
